Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
Cinly ("we", "our", or "us") is a movie, anime and series discovery app that lets you swipe through personalized recommendations, track what you watch, follow release countdowns, and watch together with friends in real time. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Cinly mobile app and the cinly.app website.
2. Information We Collect
Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address, a username / display name, and your age band (birth-year range) from onboarding. Your age band is used to apply the adult-content filter. Your account is identified by a unique user ID.
Usage data. We record how you use the app — session duration, swipe and search counts, your swipe catalog (titles you mark as want, watching, watched or skip), follows, points history, and clicks on affiliate links. Your in-app searches are stored as search records linked to your account.
Device information. We collect your device model and brand, operating system version, and your country as derived from your device's locale setting. We do not collect your precise location and never use geolocation.
Profile photo (optional). If you choose to upload a profile photo, it is stored in our infrastructure and shown on your profile.
Co-Watch activity. When you use Watch Together, we process the video title you enter, room and playback synchronization state, and session statistics (such as duration). Room state and emoji reactions are transient and processed in memory — they are not permanently stored. Subtitle files you attach are relayed to your room and are not retained on our servers after the session.
Notifications. We store a push notification (FCM) token for your device so we can deliver notifications such as countdown alerts and Co-Watch invites.
Analytics and anti-abuse identifiers. We store your device's Android ID alongside your account and analytics records to prevent abuse of the referral program.
Advertising. The app includes the Google AdMob SDK. When ads are served, Google may collect your device's advertising ID and ad-interaction data as an independent provider — see Google's privacy policy for details.
We do not collect: precise location, financial information, health data, private messages, contacts, calendar data, your files or documents, web browsing history, or the list of apps installed on your device. Crash logs and diagnostics are not collected.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain Cinly's features — your library, countdowns, Co-Watch and search.
- To personalize your discovery feed and recommendations based on your activity and preferences.
- To apply age-appropriate content filtering based on your age band.
- To send notifications you've enabled (release countdowns, Co-Watch invites).
- To operate the points and referral program, and to detect and prevent abuse of it.
- To understand aggregate usage of the app so we can improve it.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data.
Your data is processed by Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, notifications) and by our Co-Watch server, which act as first-party processors for Cinly. When you search, your search text is sent to third-party content providers (TMDB, Jikan, AniList) solely to fetch results for your request — this is service-provider processing, not a sale or sharing of your data.
If ads are served through Google AdMob, Google collects advertising data as described in section 2.
5. Data Retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, a 30-day grace period begins during which you can cancel the deletion simply by logging back in. During the grace period your data is retained per this policy. After the grace period, your account and associated data — profile photo, library, preferences, referral code, and account-linked analytics records — are permanently erased.
6. Your Rights
You can access and correct your account information and preferences at any time from the Settings screen in the app. You may also request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have additional rights (such as data portability or the right to object to processing) — we honor valid requests regardless of where you live.
7. Account Deletion
You can delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete Account) or request deletion without reinstalling the app — see cinly.app/delete-account for both paths and details of the 30-day grace period.
8. Children's Privacy
Cinly requires users to be at least 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
